Happy host = happy guest

Tommy is very sweet and always smiling. He made sure I was comfortable during my time. The location is also very close to Nijo station which was convenient for me to connect to the other stations with my JR Pass.

Tommy was super welcoming, everything was squeaky clean, laundry service available and cheap, free breakfast sandwich :)

The closing times and very specific check in times might be awkward for some, but not hard to work around and could be much worse.

Short but enjoyable stay!

I had such a warm welcome! It was so nice to get to practice my Japanese and everything was so cleaned and well organize. I wish I could have stayed one more night.

Very Good

It was a good experience to stay in a traditional Japanese house. Tommi-san is very personable, friendly and smiley and he ensured that we have a comfortable stay. He also makes great egg sandwiches for breakfast every morning. The guest house provided lots of information as to the main sites and how to get there.

The stairs to the room was steep and there was some smell in the toilets, which Tommi-san tried to remove with products but to no avail.

Very nice owner, he helped me to find a bus connection to the next city and was very helpful. The place is clean

There was a guy snoring super loudly in my room. but the next day I asked the owner for earplugs and that helped a lot. Also, snoring of another guest is not something the owner can solve

Spectacular stay, great location

The room was clean and air conditioned. The location is also just a couple minutes from Nijo station on foot. The guesthouse is also located near a bathhouse that has a variety of baths and a sauna for just 490 yen.

The stairs up to the rooms were incredibly steep.

Japanese kindness in one place

Best host ever

No access to the hotel btw 12 a.m. and 5 p.m. which is a little bit sad. But as the rest is so amazing, I still recommend this accomondation 100%

Staying in the Guest House Oumi is a great experience. The host Tommy is so nice and welcoming, the decoration is lovely and the place is very clean. It is located on the center of Kyoto, very close to Nijo Castle. There is also convenience stores near by. Tommy's sandwich is as good as the reviews say!

very sweet guesthouse

we had an amazing stay! Tommy is the sweetest host who is incredibly helpful. The guesthouse had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. We loved the kitchen which we use to prepare dinner some nights. Tommy also did washing for us for only 500 yen which was great! and not to mentioned the toasted sandwich for breakfast! would love to stay again

the doors are locked 12:00-17:00 which was mostly okay except for the day it was raining heavy and we were a bit stranded in the rain

Welcoming, comfortable, good location, clean.

Excellent host, very personable and passionate about his guesthouse and getting to know he guests. He clearly takes pride in his work. The house was very clean and comfortable.

Walls are thin so you do hear some house noise but it is not too bad.

Exceptional

The place is run by the owner you quickly get the sense of being taken care of like a family member. This is a really personalized experience. I do appreciate the effort input by the host to make us feel home.

The stairs are nothing short of exciting if you like climbing. Nonetheless the host will carry your 25K bags ups and down better than you without all that gym work :p

Wonderful

Host very friendly and helpful, above and beyond the entire stay, helped us with booking things/suggestions of visits and dinner places or anything we asked for! Free tea and coffees and kitchen use Bathroom was clean and nice showers Enjoyed our Japonese style cosy room

Bit difficult upstairs to downstairs for use of the bathrooms so just be aware of that if you struggle with stairs for the private rooms , owner kindly helped us with bags ect. Breakfast was very tasty and made fresh, portions for us big eaters quiet small Be aware as per description you need to be out of the house between 12.00 and 5.00 pm whilst they do cleaning, unsure if this is usual of guesthouses in Japan but we found this difficult for planning.

Exceptional

Host was absolutly amazing, kind and helpfull. Bed was comfortable. There was plenty of extra care, like cosmetics and fabulous breakfast. Super close to Nijo station and many good restaurants, but still on quiet street. I can highly recommend staying at Tommy-san place!

House is locked between 12-17pm, but I just planned my day according to that without problem.

Just perfect

Everything was perfect. Tomi is a lovely host and the home made breakfast was really good ! The guest house was perfectly clean and well organised. It's nearby a JR station so perfect too. I strongly recommend if you're going to Kyoto
